An ambulance called out to treat a poorly little boy in Erith has had its passenger window smashed in and items stolen by "sickening thieves."

The keys, some of the medics' belongings and an NHS iPad used as a Sat Nav were stolen, and the ambulance has since had to be taken off the road for repairs.

London Ambulance Service were called to an address on Kale Road in the Erith and Thamesmead area on Monday morning at around 7am.

The theft took place while the ambulance crew were inside the flat providing treatment to a little boy,

The passenger-side window was smashed in, and personal property belonging to the paramedics were stolen along with the iPad, according to reports.

A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service said: “It’s sickening that thieves should steal from the NHS and our medics when they were treating a poorly child.

"This break-in caused an ambulance to be taken off the road for repairs when it could be out responding to those who need us most.

“We encourage anyone with information to call police on 101 and quote CAD 1303/24AUG.”

People also reacted angrily on social media, calling the thieves 'scum', 'the lowest of the low' and 'the nastiest thing I've ever heard.'
