A scout group has received a generous donation after being recognised by a community fund initiative.

9th Carshalton Scout Group has been awarded £1000 by housebuilder Barratt London, currently developing New Mill Quarter on Hackbridge Road.

The scout group which has been supporting young people in the Wallington community since 1933, relies on fundraising efforts due to being run by volunteers.

The donation to 9th Carshalton Scout Group has funded necessary equipment, subsidised the cost of activities, trips and camps for younger members, and paid for a number of badges for the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts to work towards.

This Is Local London:

Barratt London’s Community Fund sees the housebuilder donate £1,000 per month to a registered charity or organisation working to improve the quality of life for those living in the local area.

Sales and Marketing Director at Barratt East London, Pam Reardon said: “It is always great to see important community groups, such as the 9th Carshalton Scout Group, thriving in communities local to our developments.

"Scouting organisations offer such a wide range of opportunities for young people, and we are proud to have been able to support the local group in their projects.

"As a leading UK housebuilder, alongside building new communities, we also aim to celebrate pre-existing community hubs.”

9th Carshalton Scout Group Fundraiser and Beavers Assistant, Sarah Bartholomew, said:

“I would like to thank Barratt London on behalf of all the Scouts, Cubs and Beavers at 9th Carshalton.

"We are dedicated to fostering a sense of community for all young children, and with the support of Barratt London, we will be able to do this for a long time to come.”
