Harrow Council will reintroduce parking tickets for offences in controlled parking zones (CPZs) from October 1.
It announced plans to bring back enforcement during hours when parking permits are required.
The council said it decided to suspend handing out fines for illegally parking in a CPZ “to help people get through what has been a difficult time”.
However, with lockdown restrictions easing, businesses reopening and people travelling to work more, it will revert to its previous position.
A spokesman for the council said: “From October 1 enforcement on CPZs will be reintroduced.
“This is to ensure residents can park in spaces they are paying for and to keep our roads safe.”
He added the council will be in touch with permit holders to discuss extensions due to the months lost during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Neighbouring Brent Council decided to bring back normal parking enforcement measures during the first stage of lockdown easing in May.
It too pointed to an increase in cars as more places started to reopen and said it wanted to keep the roads “running smoothly and safely”.
