Covid-19 relief organisations are being urged to sign up to an initiative which could enable them to receive up to £1,000.

Bushey-based Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care UK is offering volunteer and financial support following the conclusion of its 'Support our Superheroes' scheme.

These are projects based in the Watford, Hertsmere, or north west London area.

During the pandemic, members of the spiritual organisation have been working across south west Hertfordshire and north west London supporting key workers.

Gratitude packs filled with treats and snacks has reached more than 11,500 key workers over a 10-week period, supporting a range of hospitals including Watford General and the Royal National Orthopaedic as well as community places like schools, care homes, supermarkets, businesses, and foodbanks.

As part of the Superheroes initiative, a lasting legacy of gratitude for key workers has also been created on social media with the #GreatWallofGratitude on Instagram, where hundreds of people around the country continue to add their messages, videos and images of appreciation.

Ashwin Mehta, trustee of Shrimad Rajchandra Mission Dharampur UK, said: "As part of the Support Our Superheroes initiative, we plan to extend support to three local projects, and would love to hear from local organisations involved in supporting Covid-19 relief activities.

"In particular, we would like to hear from organisations supporting key workers, and to whom our support would make a significant difference."
