A 20-year-old's fundraiser has raised over £13k after he was tragically killed in a road collision whilst cycling for Yemen.

Pathushan (Pathu) Sutharsan, also known as RXNIN, from Morden, was pronounced dead after an HGV collided with his bike on July 22.

It is believed he was taking part in a charity ride with a group of his friends travelling from London to Brighton when he crashed with a lorry in Rudgwick.

Emergency services were called to the A281 Guildford Road, after reports Pathu was involved in a crash with a Renault HGV tipper lorry at around 10.45 am.

This Is Local London:

The former house captain of Wallington County Grammar School was cycling 120km for children affected by the civil war in Yemen.

Wallington County Grammar school posted a statement on their Twitter page last week:

"Pathu Sutharsan, a much-loved alumnus (2018) and House Captain of Radcliffe, lost his life yesterday whilst cycling from London to Brighton in support of those affected by the war in Yemen.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

"He is a credit to his school and it's values."

His friends have described him as an "inspirational young man with a good heart", known for his passion for music.

Verified on Spotify, under the name of RXNIN, Pathu had a following of more than 400 monthly listeners.

He hoped his Sri-Lanken/Tamil background would 'spice up the scene and bring everyone together from all backgrounds to vibe'.

Hundreds have taken to Instagram and his fundraising page, 'Pathu's 120km Cycle For Yemen' to pay tribute and donate to the cause which he asked people to donate to prior to his passing.

A memorial and one-minute silence in tribute to the rising star was held yesterday on July 26, at Joseph Hood Recreation Ground in Morden.

His fundraiser has reached £13,284 out of the original targeted £200 at the time of publishing.
