Lewisham Council is trying to identify the owners of a stray dog who ‘loves nothing more than a cuddle.’

Ruby was collected on South Street, Forest Hill, on the afternoon of July 1 following reports from the public of a dog wandering alone.

Animal welfare estimate she is a 4/5 months old mastiff, probably a Cane Corso.

She is underweight, has bilateral cherry eye and as a consequence very little vision.

News Shopper:

Ruby also has a skin complaint, numerous scars and evidence of other injuries.

In the future she will need x-rays and operations to diagnose the full extent of her injuries and restore her sight.

Officers say she has a “lovely temperament” and “loves nothing more than a cuddle.”

We are appealing for information on who her owners might be and to remind people that should they need to assistance with their animals to contact us for help and advice.
