A woman was found stabbed to death at a hotel in Greenwich earlier today (Sunday, July 5) while a man thought to be known to her is fighting for his life after falling from a height.

The stabbing was reported early on Sunday morning, with paramedics and police rushing to the scene at the Holiday Inn on Bugsby's Way in Greenwich, after they were called around 10.02am.

A spokesperson for the Met Police said that the victim had been declared dead at the scene.

They meanwhile described how a man, thought to be known to the woman, had fallen from a height and since been hospitalised under police guard:

"Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and a woman was found suffering serious injuries. She was declared dead at the scene," the Met spokesperson said of the emergency services' immediate first response.

"Formal identification" of the victim awaits, police said, adding that "officers from the Met are now working to inform next of kin."

"While attending the incident, a man believed to be known to the woman, fell from height.

"He was taken to hospital, where he remains under the guard of officers. His condition is being treated as life-threatening," the spokesperson added.

Police said that at this "early" stage, no-one else is thought to have been involved.

An investigation is now underway by detectives from the Met's Specialist Crime unit. Enquiries into the circumstances continue.
