Outdoor gyms and playgrounds in Barnet will start reopening from the middle of next week following a further easing of Covid lockdown restrictions.

Barnet Council says it will introduce a frequent cleaning regime to ensure the equipment is safe to use and has urged people to keep two metres apart from others when using the facilities.

The Prime Minister announced last month that outdoor gyms, playgrounds and other leisure facilities could start reopening from July 4 in England.

A Barnet Council spokesperson said: “We will begin reopening our outdoor gyms and playgrounds from the middle of next week and introduce a frequent cleaning regime. This will help keep our equipment safe for everyone to enjoy. Our skate parks, basketball courts and tennis courts remain open for all to enjoy.

“Please help keep yourself and others safe by staying at least two metres apart from other users of our facilities where possible and continue to follow the government’s guidelines.”
