A man is fighting for his life in hospital after he was assaulted.

Met Police says officers were called to Bowes Road, Enfield, at 1.30pm on Friday, June 26, to a report of an assault.

The victim, a 33-year-old man, was taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service.

He remains in a life-threatening condition in hospital, police said.

A 38-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and has been bailed to return to a North London police station later this month.

Detectives investigating the incident are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Detective Constable Carolina Luby, from North Area CID, said: “This victim remains in hospital in a critical condition fighting for his life. Tomorrow is the one week anniversary of the assault and it is absolutely vital that any witnesses that saw the altercation come forward to my investigation team as a priority.

"There are a number of flats which overlook the location of the assault and I am convinced that people will be aware as to what has occurred. Additionally if you are in possession of any CCTV or dashcam footage I urge you to please pass this on to me.”
