A popular indoor children's play area has closed permanently.

Gambado, at Woodside Leisure Park in Garston, confirmed the news on its Facebook and Twitter pages this afternoon.

A statement said: "We have sad news. We're sad to say that Gambado Watford will not be reopening after the COVID-19 lockdown, which means we have closed our doors for the last time.

"We are very sad to be saying goodbye to our wonderful customers – our fabulous team will miss you all.

"All party bookings currently booked will be refunded.

"We will be in touch with all our customers by email and telephone over the next few days to organise the return of any monies you have paid.

"If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch via cs@gambado.com – but please bear in mind that many of our team are furloughed so we may take a while to get back to you.

"Rest assured, we will be in touch if you have a current booking with us."

Gambado has a total of four centres in the UK, with the other three in London.

The play area in Garston has been closed since March 23 due to the coronavirus pandemic - but today's news confirms it will not be reopening.

The play area has been a favourite with families for years and years and is one of Watford's most popular kids' party destinations.

Gambado is the second business to close at Woodside Leisure Park in recent months.

Google shows that Chiquito has permanently closed with the Mirror reporting in March that Chiquito would not be reopening 61 of its 80 restaurants once coronavirus restrictions had eased.

Chiquito in Jarmans Park in Hemel Hempstead is listed on Google as temporarily closed.

There are also doubts about the future of Frankie & Benny's in Woodside Leisure Park with more than 100 Frankie & Benny restaurants set to close.

Both Chiquito and Frankie & Benny's are owned by The Restaraunt Group.
