WARRINGTON South MP Andy Carter has suggested the Fiddlers Ferry Power Station site would be a suitable location for a huge Tesla manufacturing facility.
The Conservative politician shared an article, from Property Week, stating the UK Government is on the hunt for 4m sq ft of industrial space for a potential electric vehicle ‘gigafactory’.
Alongside the post on Facebook, Mr Carter said: “How about the former Fiddlers Ferry Power Station site for Tesla’s new gigafactory?
“It’s brownfield land and would certainly bring jobs to Warrington and the north west.”
Tesla, an American company, specialises in electric vehicle manufacturing.
The power station, off Widnes Road, ceased production and closed in March.
Warrington Borough Council has been in discussions with site owner Scottish and Southern Energy about the future of the land.
