AN army of Hillingdon sewers have joined forces with a couture dressmaker to supply scrubs for front-line health workers.
The dressmaker, Threads, is used to working with high-end designers and even helped to dress the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s flower girls at their wedding.
Now, though, it is supplying sewing volunteers in the Hillingdon Working Group with pattern cuttings to help with a national campaign, For the Love of Scrubs.
Threads owner Sital Punja and her family have all had the virus. Her husband spent five days on oxygen at Hillingdon Hospital and the family’s experiences are shared on a facebook blog, @CovidHomeCarers.
For the Love of Scrubs has a growing membership of 424 volunteers, including sewers, drivers and procurement officers.
To date, the Hillingdon sewers have made more than 1,000 scrubs sets, which have gone to Hillingdon and Harefield hospitals, care homes, hospices, GP surgeries and clinics.
