A man has been arrested on suspicion of firearms offences after a woman was reportedly threatened with a gun during an Orpington burglary.
The Met Police's SCO19 specialist firearms unit was deployed to the Orpington area early this morning (May 8) shortly before 2am.
It was reported a "very distressed" woman had called police alleging a man had broken into her home while she slept and made threats while pointing a gun at her.
A man was subsequently arrested by officers on suspicion of offences including possession of a firearm.
The Met's firearms unit posted a picture of what appeared to be a black handgun on social media and confirmed it was being tested for its viability.
No further information on the location of the incident has yet been issues, but News Shopper has contacted Met Police for further information.
