Library fines across Brent have been suspended for the duration of their closure.

It comes as Brent Council announced that loans for items from the borough’s libraries have been extended until June 30.

Initially, return dates and outstanding charges were paused until the end of April after libraries were closed as part of attempts to reduce the spread of coronavirus.

With lockdown measures continuing across the country – and with future arrangements yet to be announced – the council has extended this for a further two months.

On the coronavirus advice section of its website, under libraries, it stated: “Please do not worry about overdue charges and return dates, they have all been extended and all overdue fines suspended throughout the closure period.”

As with all council services during this time, the situation around libraries is likely to be assessed in response to government announcements relating to Covid-19.
