A "dangerous" man who was living in London illegally is back behind bars after police found guns and ammunition at his home during a raid.

The Met Police raided Mauricio Myftaraj's home in Myrtle Road, Palmers Green, on July 24 last year under Section 46 of the Firearms Act 1968.

Inside the house, officers found a loaded revolver, a self-loading pistol with laser site (loaded) - both prohibited weapons - as well as 40 rounds of ammunition, gunpowder, ball bearings, homemade projectiles, and empty casings.

They also found 15kilograms of cannabis, with an estimated value of around £70,000. Police also seized £20,000 in cash.

Myftaraj, 28, was also found inside the home and he was promptly arrested and charged two days later .

The Albanian national's case was heard at Wood Green Crown Court and the trial was concluded on January 21.

Myftaraj was found guilty of two counts of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, possession of prohibited ammunition, possession of criminal property, and possession with intent to supply class B drugs.

On April 17, Myftaraj was jailed for 15 years.

The jury had heard that the defendant had already been convicted of a firearm offence in 2012 and sentenced to five years in prison.

In 2015, he was deported and told he could not return to the UK.

But he was able to gain illegal entry back into the UK, where he continue to commit serious criminal activity.

Gareth Coffey, Detective Sergeant, from the Met's specialist crime team, said: “Myftaraj is a dangerous individual, who will now serve a long sentence due to the great work done by officers to apprehend him.

"This is a fantastic example of how police will continue to crackdown on anyone who thinks they can carry out criminal activity and put other people’s lives in danger."
