A 37-year-old has raised more than £3000 in a tremendous effort to fund food and pamper supplies for hospital staff working tirelessly during the coronavirus outbreak.

Nichola Walsh, from Epsom, started a Crowdfunder after witnessing the pressure hospital workers were under - as her sister works as a midwife for the NHS.

The kind-hearted woman took it upon herself to raise spirits at St Helier after seeing her sister and her colleagues struggle with the increase in demand since the outbreak.

Nichola and her sister, Lisa Moser, 44, surprised staff with more than £750 worth of goods which included, food, drinks, hand creams, lip balms, face packs and many more.

The sisters plan to continue to increase hospital workers morale, and will shop for more donations next week.

Speaking to Sutton Guardian Nichola Walsh, said: “I started this because my sister is frontline at St Helier and hearing from her how difficult things have become and the pressures staff we’re facing.

“I work for a local charity supporting young careers and as my work has had to stop temporarily, I wanted to help support my sister and her colleagues at the hospital.

“The response has been incredible, and I hope that people will keep donating so I can continue to supply the staff with everything they need.

“Seeing first-hand how appreciated my parcel was has given me more inspiration to keep it going as long as I can.“

Donations have reached £3,281 out of the targeted £1,500 at the time of publishing.
