Plans for this year’s carnival are still progressing, despite the spread of coronavirus.

Bridport Carnival Committee’s new chairman, Graham Davies, and the committee, continue to be busy making arrangements for the week of events for the carnival in August.

A spokesman for the committee said: “There are a couple of new events in the making, together with the usual quiz, bingo, darts competition, the procession, dancing in Bucky Doo Square on Saturday, August 22.

“On the Sunday, there will be the wonderful torchlight procession from the town to West Bay. This will be followed by the bonfire and spectacular firework display in West Bay. While you are waiting for the lit torches to arrive, there will be dancing on East Beach.

“Watch out for details to be published later relating to the royalty competition, we will also be inviting members of the public to help with marshalling.

“Let’s hope there will a lot of money raised which the committee can donate to the chosen organisations.”
