Police are searching for a man in connection with a fire at a former hairdressers in Worcester Park last year.

The Met Police described the incident as a "serious offence of arson" as they released an image of the man wanted for questioning over the fire.

A spokesperson for the force described the fire, that took place last September, in further detail with the appeal:

"Police were called at 17:00hrs on Saturday, 7 September 2019 to reports of a fire at a former hairdressers on Cheam Common Road.

"Officers from the London Fire Brigade (LFB) and the London Ambulance Service attended the scene.

"Several neighbouring buildings had to be evacuated due to the severity of the fire.

"The prompt action of the emergency services thankfully prevented anyone being injured, however an empty shop and adjacent flat were severely damaged."

The image of the man sought by police was taken close the site of the former hairdressers at 4.33pm, just before the fire was reported.

"If you can name this man or have information concerning this incident, please contact police as soon as possible.

"Anyone who recognises him is asked to call police at Bromley police station via 101 or Tweet @MetCC quoting 5323/07SEP," the Met said.
