With the current Premier League season suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic, Watford's future remains uncertain.

A turbulent campaign has seen the Hornets battling to avoid relegation for the most part, while two head coaches have been sacked, before a resurgence under Nigel Pearson increased optimism among players and fans alike.

Although it has not been a season of enduring quality, some players have still impressed despite the trying circumstances.

Below are our five picks for player of the season so far, as well as our poll, where we'd like you to vote for who you think is deserving of the accolade.

The poll will run until midnight on Monday.

1. Ismaila Sarr

The 22-year-old was used sparingly by both Javi Gracia and Quique Sanchez Flores, but has been let of his lead by Nigel Pearson, and to great effect.

He has been involved in eight goals in the eight games he has played since Pearson's arrival, while the team looked short on creativity during a brief period on the sidelines.

The new arrival was also instrumental in the sensational win over Liverpool.

2. Christian Kabasele

The Belgian has proven himself to be a vital component of the Watford defence this season, with nine of the club's 14 defeats coming in games in which he either didn't start or wasn't involved at all.

Conversely, only one of the team's five wins have come in his absence, while just two out of ten clean sheets have been in games without the 29-year-old.

He has also shown himself to be an important figure off the pitch, with strong words early on when performances weren't good enough.

Watford Observer:

3. Etienne Capoue

The midfielder is an often-overlooked member of the Watford first-team, but he is one of the first names on the team sheet for very good reason.

He is often the proverbial metronome that keeps the side ticking along and has been consistently impressive again this season, particularly since Pearson changed the formation.

Watford Observer:

4. Ben Foster

The veteran goalkeeper has excelled again this season and it's fair to say he's single-handedly earned the side more than his fair share of points.

His heroics between the sticks have shown that he still has plenty to offer the Hornets yet and has seen him linked with Tottenham in recent weeks.

Watford Observer:

5. Troy Deeney

Despite missing a large chunk of the season through injury, the skipper has still played a big part in their upturn in form.

Six goals and two assists since the arrival of Pearson suggest the new coach is getting the best out of his captain.
