A fifth coronavirus case has been confirmed in Lewisham.

The latest figures reveal the extent of the virus' spread across the UK, with confirmed cases rising to 590.

Public Health England are not disclosing specific details about individual cases.

Yesterday Lewisham and Queen Elizabeth Hospital announced they are restricting visitors to one adult only.

Only one visitor is allowed per patient at a time, while children are not allowed to visit patients at all.

The hospital previously stated that a maximum of two "next-of-kin" were allowed to visit patients at either hospital at one time.

The prime minister held a Cobra meeting yesterday, confirming at a press conference that schools would not be closed, claiming this could do more harm than good.

Johnson also urged people with symptoms to use the internet for advice rather than calling 111 and said the government will do “all we can” to help people through the crisis.
