Police were kept busy over the weekend dealing with issues of cannabis possession and moped theft.

Taking to Facebook to share their most recent goings on, Sutton Police said: "On Saturday night (February 22) the Safer Parks Team were out again on proactive late shifts, with their first port of call being Cheam Park and the Park Lane/Parkside area.

"Upon arrival they were met by three men on two mopeds, who immediately began to make off.

"One of the males was removed from his moped by an officer on foot, whereby a foot chase ensued."

The police added that this man unfortunately got away.

The post added: "However the crash helmet he was wearing and the moped he was riding was recovered.

"The moped was found to have been stolen from the Wandsworth area in December and was on a wrong stolen plate."

The moped was then taken to a police pounds and the helmet forensically recovered for their technicians to check.

But their night wasn't done just yet.

"Whilst waiting with the moped two further males were stopped and searched," the post read.

"They were unrelated to this incident and both found to be in possession of cannabis and dealt with."
