MORE than £1,000 has been raised in the memory of a much respected councillor.
Cllr Christine Wild died suddenly on February 3.
The family asked for donations to be made to charity Children Today in lieu of flowers, reflecting her passion to ensure children received the very best start in life.
Already more than £1,000 has been raised in Cllr Wild's name.
Her husband, Paul, a serving councillor, said: "We are all so overcome with the amount donated, and we have decided to keep the fund open for a little bit longer."
"Christine spent so much of time in education, at The Oaks Primary School and Sharples High School, where she was chair of governors. We are so so proud of her."
Donations to the charity can be made through Howarth’s Funeral Service, Blackburn Road, Bolton Tel: 01204 309609.
