An Asda store on the border of Croydon and Sutton has re-opened following a security alert.
A woman at the scene of the store in Marlowe Way said customers were asked to leave the building immediately "for their own safety."
"There was no ambulances, just police, so i don’t think anyone was hurt," she said.
"As we were leaving the store there was a lot of people saying it was a bomb scare but no official person has said this, so may be said in panic."
A spokesman for the Met Police said they were called at 11.46am on Sunday to a security alert at the supermarket.
"Officers attended and the store has been evacuated as a precaution."
But at about 2.30pm, the Met added that the incident had been stood down.
A spokesman for Asda also confirmed that the store has now re-opened and apologised to customers for any inconvenience caused.
