Epping Town Council has been awarded Quality Gold status by the Essex Association of Local Councils.
The council based on St Johns Road, Epping, is now one of only five Essex councils to hold this award.
Praise was given for the council’s 'comprehensive' website and "lots of consistent work over a period of time".
Council staff were also praised for their work benefitting the community.
Judges added: "The (council's) Community Engagement Strategy was excellent with the council clearly stating how it would like to move forward in the future.
"Very well done to the clerk Beverley Rumsey and council on an extremely business-like application."
Deputy Town Mayor Michael Wright told the council meeting on Tuesday, February 11: "Everyone has done a fantastic job. It's a tremendous achievement."
