Patients, staff and residents are being asked to put their best foot forward for Epsom and St Helier by joining a fundraising walk between the two hospitals.

To mark the Trust’s 21st anniversary, Epsom and St Helier Hospitals Charity are hosting its second ever Walk4Wards event.

The eight mile trek starts at Epsom Hospital and ends at St Helier, taking in the sights of Epsom, Nonsuch Park and Sutton High Street along the way.

Chief executive Daniel Elkeles said: “We hosted our first ever Walk4Wards event last year, and it was such a success that we decided to turn it into an annual event.

"More than 200 people took part in 2019, raising a whopping £29,000 for good causes across our hospitals and community services.

“There was such a community feel about the day – people of all ages joined us, from babies in prams to people in their 70s, and everyone had their own reasons for being there.

"Some people walked in memory of a loved one who had been cared for by us, some staff raised money to make improvements in the area where they work, and former patients raised funds for the specific wards and departments that mean something to them.

"Whatever your reason for taking part, we hope lots of people can join us for the return of Walk4Wards in 2020.”

Participants are welcome to choose which ward or department they would like to raise funds for, or can simply collect sponsorship for the Trust as a whole.

The walk will take place Sunday, March 29. For information about how to get involved you can email esth.charity@nhs.net or call the team on 01372 735262 or 01372 735261.
