A brand-new care home that will facilities up to 73 residents will officially open next month.

Lambwood Heights on Lambourne Road, Chigwell, will provide residential, nursing, memory and respite care for elderly people across Essex.

The purpose-built care home is the latest addition to Oakland Care’s portfolio which includes Woodland Grove in Loughton.

Lord Lieutenant of Essex, Jennifer Tolhurst, will officially open the new facility, where more than 100 invited guests from the community in attendance.

Around 100 jobs will be available once the home is fully occupied under Oakland Care’s portfolio, including support for apprenticeships and work placements.

Residents will be provided with a cinema room, library, bistro café, private dining room and a hair and beauty salon, all surrounded by the woodland.

Entertainment on the day will come from Coppice Primary and Lambourne Primary School choirs plus musicians from West Hatch Secondary School.

Singers, The Gatbsy Trio, will create a 1920s atmosphere in the art deco styled home.

According to recent figures, care home closures in 2018 saw a net loss of 532 beds in the county council area of Essex.

Chigwell’s neighbouring local authority, Waltham Forest, lost a staggering 25 per cent of its available beds during the same period.

Lambwood Heights will open at 2pm on Friday, February 7.
