A woman from Gravesend has been charged with 13 separate offences after a spate of purse thefts in Dartford, Gravesend and Swanscombe.

Kelly Chater, of the Avenue, went on a series of thefts between November 2019 and January 2020, allegedly stealing shop assistants' purses and wallets and then using the stolen bank cards fraudulently.

Kent Police received reports of burglaries and thefts from stores in Gravesend, Dartford and Swanscombe and launched an investigation into the matter.

The 37-year-old woman was arrested on Sunday, January 26, and was subsequently charged with five counts of burglary, three of theft and five of fraud.

She was remanded in custody to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court today, Tuesday 28 January 2020.

At the hearing she pleaded guilty to all the charges and was further remanded to appear at Maidstone Crown Court for sentencing at a date to be confirmed.
