PARALYMPIC champion swimmer Alice Tai met youngsters at Northolt Leisure Centre’s 10th Anniversary celebrations on Saturday.

Northolt, operated by Everyone Active in partnership with Ealing Council, hosted a swimming class and Q&A session with Alice for aspiring young swimmers.

Alice, an Everyone Active Sporting Champion ambassador, said: “I train here every week with Ealing Swimming Club, but we are in and out of the pool before it opens to the public.

“This gave me a great opportunity to engage with many young swimmers in the community and offer encouragement.

“I remember being motivated by older and accomplished swimmers when I was young, so I was only too pleased to return the favour.”

Cllr Bassam Mahfouz, Ealing Council cabinet member for finance and leisure, said:  “Having grown up learning how to swim at Northolt, it was fabulous to see it rebuilt into this amazing new facility.

“It proved the centre has stood the test of time over the past 10 years. All the facilities are in great shape!”
