Trinity Orchestra is holding its first concert of 2020 at the beginning of next month.
The orchestra’s Music Director, John Andrews, will conduct an exciting and varied programme of 20th-century orchestral works for the concert at 7.30pm on Saturday, February 1, at Trinity Church, Harrow.
The evening kicks off with Igor Stravinsky’s Suite from The Firebird – a work which secured his position as Diaghilev’s star ballet composer.
Matt Glendening, an exciting emerging talent, is soloist in Aaron Copland’s evocative and jazzy Clarinet Concerto, which was commissioned and premiered by Benny Goodman in 1950.
Malcolm Arnold’s Symphony No. 5, written in remembrance of four of his friends who died too young, ends the concert. This profoundly emotional work, full of conflict, irony and anguish, paints a picture of a dark and complex world.
