A man was rushed to hospital and a suspect arrested after an apparent hit and run in Erith today (January 19).

The crash took place on Queens Road in Erith around 11.35am.

Met Police officers and London Ambulance Service (LAS) rushed to attend the scene, where a man was found injured and promptly rushed to hospital.

Responding to a request from News Shopper, a police spokesperson offered more details and described what happened after emergency services arrived at the scene.

"Police were called at approximately 11:25hrs on Sunday, 19 January to reports of a man injured after being in collision with a van in Queens Road, Erith.

"Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and the man – no further details – was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries; his condition is not life threatening.

"The van did not stop at the scene.

"A man, believed aged in his 30s, was subsequently arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent and remains in custody at a south London police station.

The Met said that road closures in the area remain in place at present.

They are also continuing to investigate what happened and are calling on anyone with information to come forward.
