An elderly woman was rescued from a blaze at a house.
A house fire broke out at Hutton Lane, Harrow, near the end of Boxtree Lane last night (January 12).
London Fire brigade were called to the scene at 10.30pm which crews from Harrow and Stanmore fire stations attended.
Harrow Sub Officer, Toby Aylett, was at the scene. He said: "The next door neighbour heard a smoke alarm sounding and went to investigate.
"An older woman was inside the property and tapping at the window for help.
"The neighbour broke the window and dragged the resident to safety.
"Firefighters tackled the fire which damaged part of the ground floor."
The elderly woman was found suffering from smoke inhalation and was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.
The fire was then under control by 11.30pm.
After investigation, it is believed that the cause of the fire is believed to be accidental and involved a portable heater.
