Detectives are investigating after human remains were discovered at a property in Barnes.
Police had been called to the scene in Nowell Road today (January 3) after reports of concern for the occupant of the address.
A nearby neighbour, who lives on adjacent Boileau Road, said: "Police have been here since this morning and are still here.
"The forensic teams have come from Putney Police Station.
"Officers knocked on my door to ask questions but haven't told me what is going on.
"Neighbours said that they heard a woman scream last night.
"Police are still digging the front garden."
A Met Police spokesman confirmed the remains had been analysed and confirmed as human.
A statement read: "Officers from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command investigate.
"A post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.
"Enquiries into the circumstances continue, including to establish the identity of the deceased person."
