Christmas tree recycling points have been set up across Brent to encourage people to dispose of them responsibly.

Brent Council launched the scheme for another year, with the ‘drop off’ stations open until January 12.

They are spread out across the borough, with additional pop-up locations in place on January 4 and January 11.

Cllr Krupa Sheth, responsible for the environment at Brent Council, said: “Many of the steps we can take to live more sustainably come with lots of other benefits.

“Like saving money, keeping our streets free of rubbish, making our homes warmer, or helping us to focus on the important things at Christmas – time with friends and family.”

In neighbouring Harrow, the council reminded residents that it does not operate a specific Christmas tree collection service.

It advised those with trees to make use of the Recycling Centre, in Forward Drive, Wealdstone.

To use the centre, you must live in Harrow and bring photo ID and proof of address.

Those living in Harrow can also make use of the council’s bulky waste service to get rid of their Christmas trees and other disposable festive decorations.

However, there is a charge to use this service – prices start at £40 to remove up to four bulky items.
