Two men died five miles apart from each other in what police are describing as a linked double murder.

A 30-year-old Albanian man died on December 19 after he was found in a car boot at Scratchwood Park off the A1. He had been stabbed in the neck and chest.

The following day, the body of a 35-year-old Kosovan man was found in undergrowth in Hogg Lane, near Elstree Aerodrome.

He died from stab wounds to the chest.

Police are linking both deaths.

Two men have been charged with murder in connection with these deaths.

Also during the month Barnet stayed blue in the General Election as the Tories fought off challenges in all three marginal constituencies.

Mike Freer retained his seat in Finchley and Golders Green. Theresa Villiers and Matthew Offord also kept their seats in Chipping Barnet and Hendon.

Just before the election a Conservative activist feared she was the victim of an acid attack after being sprayed with perfume.

British Transport Police said it was made aware of a report that a woman had an irritant sprayed in her face by a group of five to six youths at High Barnet Tube Station on Wednesday, December 11.

She is not believed to have sustained any injuries.

Also in the month a father paid a moving tribute to his “beautiful genius” son after he died from a rare form of cancer .

Jack Morgan died in August this year after he was diagnosed with NUT Midline Carcinoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer that can form anywhere in the body.

He said: “Jack is a beautiful genius That’s not biased parental opinion. Simply a statement of fact endorsed by an academic record befitting of smart thinkers.”

A football tournament was held in Jack’s memory to raise money for North London Hospice.
