An 11-foot tall elephant has earned a lot of attention in Sidcup this festive period.

Sculpted from a group of bushes, the elephant stands proud looking out over Collindare Road.

The creator of the surprising spectacle, Christopher Dean, said he decided to decorate the elephant last week and has since had festive sightseers.

“I heard a noise outside of the house and saw that runners had lined up to take photos," he told News Shopper.

“The response has been much more than I expected."

He said he created the elephant two years ago with the help of his son, after realising his four bushes had started to resemble “an elephant's bottom.”

The elephant has evolved gradually over time, with Mr Dean adapting it along the way, with the help of a ladder to reach the very top.

He said the elephant has always been a crowd-pleaser, with parents usually stopping to park up for their children to see.

The elephant lights up at night and is still awaiting a name.
