The race is well and truly on between the Conservatives and Labour in Putney, with a strong Lib Dem turnout also expected.

It is the former seat of Justine Greening who stepped down after she had the Conservative Whip removed for voting for the House of Commons to take control of proceedings for the EU withdrawal bill.

She was a strong ‘remainer’, and the constituency also voted to remain by more than 70 per cent, but old Tory loyalties could see Will Sweet hold the seat for the party despite agreeing to implement Boris Johnson’s Brexit deal.
