Police have authorised a further Section 60 stop and search order in Greenwich and Lewisham after another man has been taken to hospital.

At around 8pm on Saturday, December 7, officers and ambulances were called to a report of a stabbing on Queens  Road, SE15 close to the junction of New Cross Road.

A male was taken to a south London hospital with a stab wound and his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

A crime scene was put in place but has since been removed, and police say enquires are ongoing.

Lewisham MPS announced the S60 order, aimed at preventing serious violence by allowing officers to stop and search anyone in the two boroughs.

Greenwich Police issued the same type of order on Saturday, December 7, in the wake of 24 hours of bloodshed which saw three men stabbed to death in the capital.

One man, a drill rapper with the stage name Bis, was killed in Deptford, whilst two other murders took place in Hackney and Knightsbridge.

The Saturday night S60 has now however been extended, running from 5pm today, Sunday 8 December, to 7am tomorrow morning.

The powers cover all of both the Royal Borough of Greenwich and Lewisham, as outlined in this map issued by Lewisham Police.

This Is Local London:

Following the violence on Thursday and Friday, Met commander Jane Connors announced that extra police officers were being deployed across London in order to secure people's safety.

She called each of the three incidents a "tragedy," but said there were no links between the attacks.

Commander Connors added: "Tonight, and over the weekend, residents will see more officers on patrol in the areas where these murders took place as well as other parts of London.

“This highly-visible policing presence will include officers from our reserve units, including the Territorial Support Group, the Violent Crime Task Force and armed units."
