A DJ-loving boy with a rare form of cancer had his wish become a reality after receiving brand new equipment at a radio station.

Ashden Hartem, aged 12 from Harlow, who was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma last year, made his wish to children’s charity, Make-A-Wish.

The budding DJ was presented with brand new headphones, decks and speakers by DJ Huck Finn at Centreforce 883 Radio in Waltham Abbey on Friday, November 29.

DJ and Centreforce Radio station manager, Huck Finn said: “We were delighted to hear from Make-A-Wish for Ashden.

“As Ashden’s father, Paul is an avid Centreforce listener, we have got to know Ashden over the past year.

“To be able to award him with the tools to be given the chance to be a future Centreforce DJ is very humbling. From everyone at Centreforce, we wish Ashden the brightest future.”

Ashden Hartman meets with the Centreforce 883 Radio team alongside his family.

Ashden is now on the road to recovery following treatment to tackle the cancer known for developing within the immune system.

His wishgranter, Dan, contacted Centreforce Radio and they organised Ashden’s special day.

Ashden’s parents Paul and Sarah, his sister Aimee and Make-A-Wish volunteer Jenna, were all there to see Ashden’s wish become a reality.

Speaking about his son, Paul Hartman said: “Ashden has had a love for music from a young age when he started listening to my vinyl collection of soul, funk and house music.

“During his illness, he was drawn to the DJing side of music and I could see he could naturally beat match and had the feel for music so I worked on the mixing side with him at any chance we could during this period. Ashden started a DJing course at school with Future DJ.org which he loves and is passionate about.

“Ashden has had a few visits to Centreforce Radio over the last year and has met the team and some of the DJs who have had all been amazing and have had a huge influence on him.”

James Suckley, CEO at Make-A-Wish, said: “We believe that every child a wish, a dream or an aspiration that is unique to them so our volunteers and wishgranters work with children like Ashden to make this a reality.

“Our greatest challenge is to reach every one of these children. We can’t do this alone and thank all our supporters and organisations like Centreforce for helping us to achieve this.”
