A new Co-op store running 100% on renewable electricity has opened today in Forest Hill after nearly a million pound investment.

The new store has opened on Stanstead Road following a ribbon-cutting ceremony today, Friday, November 22.

This store replaces the existing Co-op on Waldran Park Road, with two new jobs created in the move.

The Co-op will offer a range of fresh fruit and vegetables, healthy foods, meal ideas, hot food, PayPoint and an in-store bakery.

Forest Hill's latest shop also brings with it a funding boost through the Co-op Membership scheme which "gives back to the community and raises money for local causes."

Members receive a 5% reward when they purchase own brand products and services, with the Co-op also giving a further 1% to local causes.

Pascal Tokunaga, Co-op Area Manager, said: “We are delighted to have had the opportunity to make such a significant investment in Forest Hill. It is our aim to establish our stores at the heart of local life, and make a difference in our local communities.

“It will have a great new look and store manager Kumar Nava and his team look forward to welcoming the community. It’s all about getting closer to our members and customers, providing what they want, need and care about, conveniently."
