Two professional triathletes visited a primary school to officially open a brand new ‘Daily Mile’ running track.

Sport stars Reece Barclay and Lucy Charles Barclay attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony at Thomas Willingale School and Nursery in Loughton on Monday, November 18.

The Daily Mile is a fully inclusive initiative which improves the physical and mental health of pupils in and out of the classroom.

Installed over the October half-term, the youngsters are being encouraged to run, jog or walk at their own pace for 15 minutes everyday.

Students also took part in a Q&A session during assembly with the triathlete duo before taking part in some track training during break time.

Mrs Barclay is the current Amateur World Champion Ironman Triathlete and was second three successive years at the Professional Womens Ironman Championships.

Her husband and coach Reece, became professional 18 months ago and came fifth at the World Championships and is set to run next year's London Marathon.
