Temporary traffic lights have been causing major delays this week.

There are two-way lights in Barnet Road, Arkley, which has led to massive disruption, particularly for drivers heading from the A1.

Last night, the traffic lights at the site, near Rowley Green Road, were not working forcing motorists to squeeze down one side of the road and give way.

This morning, the lights were working, but even after 10am, queues tailed back down Barnet Road all the way to Stirling Corner, while the A1 queued back towards the Rowley Lane slip road.

One driver reported that it was worse coming from the A1 because less vehicles were being let through the lights.

A bus passenger said that it took her an hour to get from Borehamwood to Barnet Gate.

Cadent Gas, which is carrying out some work, has been made aware of the traffic issues and said it will look into solving some of the problems.

As of 1.30pm, Barnet Road was completely clear in both directions.

The roadworks are expected to be in place until Friday.
