Last week saw the launch of a brand new bouldering room at Danson Park Adventures.

The new area, which consists of artificial rock walls, was officially opened on October 16 by the Mayor of Bexley, Cllr Geraldene Lucia-Hennis.

After performing her official ribbon-cutting duties, the Mayor joined a group of local children to try out the new rock climbing walls for herself.

Cabinet Member for Places, Cllr Peter Craske said: “I am delighted that this project has now been realised, providing another adventure for our park visitors to enjoy. The water sports centre, where the new bouldering room is housed, is an asset to our borough, bringing in visitors from miles around, as well as being a key part of our local physical activity and health offer.

"We have invested significantly in Danson Park Adventures, with the bouldering room adding to new canoes, kayaks, row boats, stand up paddleboards and pedalos introduced this summer. We also recently launched a new orienteering course in the park, which has already been enjoyed by a number of families at our summer orienteering days.”

Further work to improve the site has seen the replacement of the old water sports centre façade with a welcoming glass shop front, while it is hoped that new lakeside storage and improvements to the surrounding grassed area will also enhance visitor experience.

The new bouldering wall is available for public sessions, birthday parties, school and uniformed group sessions, family sessions, adult evenings, school holiday sessions and one-to-one sessions
