The victim of a fatal stabbing in Bexley has been named as 20-year-old Ben Lines from Belvedere, as a third boy was arrested in connection with his murder.

Police were called at 2.48pm on Sunday afternoon (October 13) to Barnehurst Avenue, Bexley, after reports of a fight in the street.

On arrival, Ben Lines was found with a stab injury to his chest and was rushed to hospital, but was declared dead less than three hours later.

A post-mortem examination took place at the Princess Royal Hospital today and gave the cause of death as a stab wound to the abdomen.

Met Police confirmed today that a third man had been arrested in connection with the incident.

He was described as a 17-year-old boy, arrested at an address in Dartford on suspicion of murder.

The arrest was made on Monday, which was the same day a 16-year-old boy handed himself in at a police station and was also arrested on suspicion of murder.

Both remain in custody.

A 16-year-old boy was also arrested on the day of the attack on suspicion of attempted murder, but has been bailed.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Cranwell said: “A young man has been stabbed to death on a Sunday afternoon in the street, and now a young man’s family have been left mourning and looking for answers. I am asking anyone with information, or who witnessed this fatal stabbing, to call police.

"In particular we want to hear from you if you were passing around the time of the stabbing and may have recorded your car journey on a dashcam.

"You can answer the questions that are being asked by a grieving family by calling police and telling us what you know.”
