A bus company will continue to run a school service next year.

Sullivan Buses feared it would have to pull the DY2 service after Yavneh College in Borehamwood announced it would no longer be able to fund the service after the autumn term.

The DY2 has been taking schoolchildren from Radlett and Shenley to Yavneh College since 2011 but the school no longer has as many pupils attending from the two villages.

However commercial manager Steve Simmonds has found a way to continue the service and provide a service for pupils at a different school too.

The DY2 will now run via Yavneh and Dame Alice Owens School in Potters Bar.

The new service has been trialled over the last term and Mr Simmonds say it proved to be both "feasible and reliable".

He said: "The success and popularity of Yavneh means it cannot take as many pupils from Radlett and Shenley.

"But over the past three years, we have received a number of requests to run a service to Dame Alice Owen's school, but traditionally there have always been too few pupils from Radlett and Shenley to operate a viable bus service there.

"However, the opening and closing times of the two schools correlate nicely and we realised we would be able to meet the needs of both schools with one vehicle.

"We trialled the service this time and it proved to be feasible and reliable so it will continue into 2020.

"We need parents to continue to support us now and in the future to ensure we can provide Radlett, Shenley, and Borehamwood with an affordable and reliable bus service to and from these excellent schools for years to come."

DY2 starts from Battlers Green before serving Radlett, Shenley Hill, Porters Park, Shenley, Borehamwood (Cowley Hill, Shenley Road, Tesco, Elstree Way) and then non stop Dame Alice Owen's school in Potters Bar.
