A young girl from Twickenham who has multiple learning disabilities is launching an eco-friendly range in an attempt to encourage others to reduce their carbon footprint this Christmas.
16-year-old Georgie Cox has Asperger’s – a high functioning form of autism, dyslexia, ADHD, and sensory disorders, but none of this stopped her passion to help with environmental issues.
After learning from her aunt that Christmas wrapping paper cannot be recycled, Georgie was inspired to launch her own range of reusable gift bags.
Miss Cox said: “I think that if people realise that most gift-wrapping paper can't be recycled; they will stop using it.
“My wrapping [fabric, thread and tape] is 100 per cent cotton with a wooden button.
Georgie's eco-friendly gifting bags can be purchased on etsy.com.
“It can be used for decades and will then biodegrade, so there is no problem with it.
“We can all help save the planet by using things over and over again."
In July, Miss Cox launched ‘FabWrapsByGeorgie’ on Esty.com.
Her online shop has a range of reusable gift bags and wraps all made with 100 per cent cotton.
And, this Christmas, Miss Cox will be launching a set of three fabric bags which all come with reusable fabric tags and cards.

Miss Cox continued: “My aunty didn't just give me a present for my birthday.
"She gave me a whole business idea.
“It is so exciting, and I want people to know that it doesn't matter what your labels are that you can be successful in things that you care about."
