One man was taken to hospital following a fire at a three-storey block in Sutton

Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to the blaze in Brighton Road just after 9.30pm on Sunday.

Part of a flat on the second floor was damaged by the fire.

Twelve people left the building before the LFB arrived. One man was taken to hospital as a precaution by London Ambulance Service crews.

The fire was under control by 10.45pm.

The fire is believed to be accidental and caused by combustible items coming into contact with a hot plate, causing them to ignite.
