The head of a cat has been found in an alleyway in Beckenham with its body not being present.

South Norwood Animal Rescue and Liberty (SNARL) said it was unable to rule it out of its investigation into the alleged human murders of hundreds of cats.

Anyone who owns a missing Tortoiseshell cat is urged to come forward after the grim finding on Sunday (September 22).

A spokesperson for SNARL told News Shopper: "Heads are occasionally found but because they decompose quickly it is a challenge to ascertain whether foul play was involved.

"The head was found upright in an alleyway.

"It could have been placed or dropped by a fox. We put out an appeal to ask if anyone in the area is missing a Tortie and also if anyone finds a body to contact us."

SNARL has been privately investigating the so-called Croydon Cat Killer in recent years since the case was closed by the Met late last year.
