A care home has celebrated one year since opening its doors to the community.

Elton House, a luxury senior care home in Watford, celebrated the special day last Tuesday (September 10).

Since it opened, the care home has become finalists in the Hertfordshire Care Awards in the most innovative service category.

Staff at the home treated the elderly and their families to a party. The event was opened by the Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire, Robert Voss.

They were also treated to a meal and entertainment from magician Miles Eagling.

Staff hosted a silent auction and raised £900 for the Watford Peace Hospice Care. Donations were given by Eva Edery, Boon Beauty, Miles Eagling and Grainne Sullivan.

Elton House has 71 private apartments and its facilities include a cinema, spa and therapy room. The home provides specialist care with dementia suites and a private dementia area which offers support for those requiring memory loss care.
