Pub, cafes and restaurants could earn an extra £1.3million this month if residents spend a tenner during ‘Taste of Putney’, event organisers have said.

The two week food and drink festival is kicking off this weekend and Positively Putney Business Improvement District are hoping the economy gets a big boost.

“We’re excited to bring back ‘Taste of Putney’ for the second year running – where you’ll be able to enjoy tastings, events, special offers and exclusive dishes at some of our finest pubs, cafes and restaurants," Positively Putney's executive director Nicola Grant said.

“We’d love to see people living in and around Putney, and from across the capital, come and see what we have to offer, explore the area and support our local businesses.

"If just half of Wandsworth’s residents come and spend a tenner during the fortnight, our local food and drink economy would benefit by more than £1.3m.”

The town centre event will begin on September 14 and run until the 29th.
