An independent school played host to an annual netball and football festival held over the weekend.

Nineteen netball and twenty-four footballs teams respectively from a variety of schools took part in the sport event at Chigwell School on High Road, Chigwell on Saturday, September 7.

Each both respective sports played seven games over the course of the morning.

The aim of the festival was to allow all players to gain experience and creating a learning environment where the pupils could play more freely.

Chigwell School head of netball, Mrs Sam Lawrence, said: “The netball festival provided a wonderful environment for young players to gain experience of the sport and to develop their skills and confidence throughout the event.

“Our festival is unique in this way, due to the support of coaches and the adaptations to the matches.

“Everyone had a fantastic morning and it was a delight to see so many young players enjoying themselves and being inspired by others.

Head of football, Mr Andy Bruce, said “The U11 Chigwell Festival is about giving the pupils the opportunity to play in a fun environment.

“It was another fantastic year with record participation, well done to everyone involved.”
